Doublers Collective was founded in 2010 by Monica Shriver out of a passion and desire to perform multiple woodwind instruments in a progressive jazz setting. Made up of five in-demand established jazz saxophonists, Doublers Collective is a high caliber, enthusiastic group interested in exploring all the color and sonority possibilities available using so many different instruments. The members perform on different combinations of piccolo, flute, alto flute, bass flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, sopranino saxophone, soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, bass saxophone, and bassoon. All top-notch educators, the mission of Doublers Collective includes performance clinics and community outreach. Doublers Collective collaborates with some of the best jazz composers in the world today to create a repertoire for this unique instrumentation.
Brought together by a fierce passion for jazz and improvisation and a love for playing multiple instruments, Doublers Collective truly enjoys making music together. Made up of close friends who share a long and detailed history together – both personally and musically – the ensemble dynamic is energetic, heart warming, open and always a safe place to take risks. Having played together in various capacities for well over a decade, the members of Doublers Collective have grown together and learned from each other. Our diverse yet complimentary personalities come together in our music and the dynamic that we share is plausible on stage.
Doublers Collective is available for Performances, Clinics, Residencies, Festivals and as a Commissioned Ensemble or Guest Artist Ensemble.
